Baumer hhs marks 40 years of industrial gluing innovation

Dr. Oliver Vietze (left), CEO and Chairman of Baumer Group, based in Frauenfeld, Switzerland, and Baumer hhs Managing Director Percy Dengler welcome the team to the company’s 40th anniversary celebration.

Baumer hhs has marked its 40th anniversary, highlighting four decades of technological development in industrial adhesive application, quality assurance and production process optimisation across multiple manufacturing sectors.

The milestone was celebrated on 12 June 2026 at the company’s headquarters in Krefeld, Germany, attended by employees, management and company founders. Today, the company employs more than 350 people worldwide and operates as part of the Baumer Group.

The anniversary also reflected the evolution of two specialist companies that later formed Baumer hhs. Sensor technology manufacturer System Kurandt GmbH joined the Baumer Group in 1998, followed by hhs GmbH in 2001. Both businesses had established reputations for developing adhesive application and quality control technologies that improved production efficiency in their respective industries. They were subsequently combined in 2003 to create Baumer hhs.

Over the past four decades, the company has expanded its international footprint through subsidiaries in Europe, Asia, North America and Latin America, supported by a sales and service network covering more than 120 countries. Approximately 75% of its products are exported to international markets.

Within the packaging industry, Baumer hhs has become a recognised supplier of adhesive application and inspection systems serving folding carton, corrugated packaging, end-of-line packaging and tobacco production. The company works closely with packaging converters, machine manufacturers and brand owners, often participating in product development projects at an early stage.

A notable aspect of the company’s recent activities has been its involvement in sustainability and digitalisation initiatives. Baumer hhs is a founding member of the 4evergreen Alliance, which focuses on improving the recyclability and sustainability of fibre-based packaging. The company is also involved in the SUGRA research project, which is developing renewable starch-based adhesives suitable for high-speed folder-gluer operations.

For the global packaging sector, the anniversary represents not only a corporate milestone but also an indication of how adhesive application technologies have evolved into a critical component of packaging productivity, quality assurance, digital integration and sustainability strategies across modern converting operations.
